A talk, a walk and 13 ghosts with author Mason Winfield in North Tonawanda

Mason Winfield, author of many books about the supernatural and spooky in Western New York, will be returning to North Tonawanda on Tuesday for a lecture, book signing and ghost walk.

The presentation, titled "Thirteen Ghosts of North Tonawanda," will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sweeney Hose Fire Co., 499 Zimmerman St. At 8 p.m., the walk will begin at the Manhattan Street parking lot and will last about an hour. The cost is $15 for both events.

"Haunted History Ghost Walks Inc. were asked by a couple local folks to lead a private ghost walk when the idea came to everyone to open it up to the community," Winfield said. " We have a terrific script for North Tonawanda. It has some wonderful stories, and we hate to waste them by not presenting them. This may be a once-a-year thing in the future."

When I was in New Orleans a few weeks ago, I went on a haunted tour of the French Quarter that was one of the highlights of the trip. New Orleans is, after all, one of the oldest cities in the US, and has a reputation for being kind of spooky with all the Creole superstitions and such.
